| Roscoe Lee Browne Dies at 81 |
Actor Roscoe Lee Browne, who appeared on the New York stage for nearly 40 years, died on April 11 in Los Angeles after a long battle with cancer. He was 81.
The voice of the mercenary and thief, Reekon, Mr. Browne's gruff characterization brought the villain to life almost as vibrantly as his performance of the sagely wizard Merklynn. His presence was undeniable and the transformation of Merklynn from a crotchety selfish old man into a crotchety but friendly ally is one of the most endearing things about the character. Roscoe Lee Browne's history as an actor both on the screen, on stage and as a voice can be read in the biography on this site located here. He will be greatly missed.

| Shout! to release Transformers and G.I. Joe complete series DVDs starting July 2009 |
This recently appeared on TVShowsonDVD.com
Transformers - Trade Mag Report: Shout! doing Complete Series for TF & Joe this Summer!
Expect additional bonus material and (possibly) 'special' packaging on these sets
Posted by David Lambert
4/10/2009
Excited fans have been happy to know that new season set releases are in-the-works from Shout! Factory for the original Transformers and G.I. Joe animated series from the '80s. Now hard-core fans will be even happier to hear that they won't have to collect individual season sets, if they prefer to have it all in one big bite!
In a story posted today by trade journal Home Media Magazine, Asst. Managing Editor John Latchem talks with Shout! President Garson Foos, who publicly acknowledges their deal with Hasbro for the first time. The story concentrates on the first DVD release: June 16th's The Transformers - The Complete 1st Season: 25th Anniversary Edition. But near the end of the story, Latchem lets the cat out of the bag about something more substantial:
Foos said Shout! Factory would follow the release with special complete-series sets of "The Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" later this summer. In the case of "G.I. Joe," Rhino lost the rights before completing its release slate, which means many of the episodes will finally be released for the first time.
So, as you can see, fans will be able to get G.I. Joe - The Complete Series, with every episode officially available on DVD for the first time in history, before Summer 2009 is out! And fans can also get Tranformers - The Complete Series at or around the same time, containing episodes that are "restored to the original broadcast versions with a new stereo soundtrack created from the original audio". Sweet.
And what's even sweeter is that we've confirmed with sources close to the project that these releases will contain additional bonus material, above and beyond what's going to be available in the individual season sets. No details are available yet on what that will be, or what the "special" packaging Foos hints at would consist of (assuming we are interpreting that correctly), or when exactly these would be available to purchase. But we're on top of it, of course, so stay tuned for more updates as developments occur! |

| Cindarr Character Review - Submitted by Visioneer |
Cindarr Character Review
by Visioneer
Cindarr is a misfit among the Darkling Lords. Though perhaps the most powerful, he is generally derided for being less intelligent and ruthless than the others. In “The Dark Hand of Treachery” Darkstorm comments that it would be nice if Merklynn could remove Cindarr’s compassion when he stops an attack to rescue a cat from some debris. In fact Cindarr is not the raging brute that he and his totem appear, but deep down he is a gentle giant concerned with protecting his own.

| Amazing fan artwork from Spectral Templar! |
The picture on the left is the amazing artwork submitted by Prysmos.com community member Spectral Templar.
"This is a character that I created. I painted the image in Photoshop and place the image in a backing card template." - Spectral Templar.
I love the piece! It looks 100% genuine! And the character design also looks like it would make a great Darkling Lord. Please click the image on the left and view the full-sized image in the gallery.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say "please do more!"

| New Images and Information on the 1988 Visionaries Action Figures and Vehicles! |
New information and images of HASBRO's unproduced 1988 Visionaries action figures and vehicles are now available in the Action Figure Guide!
Click here to view the Action Figure Guide
These images come from HASBRO's 1988 Catalog which was produced for their employees as a guide to the next years upcoming toy lines. I have scanned the pictures at high resolution and made indivdual information pages for each new figure that was planned, including notes on totems and accessories. I have also been able to determine the alignment of the figures as well as link them to the packaging card art provided by collector Wayne Tompson. This has allowed me to make a number of ammendments to the information in the Action Figure Guide.
Please check out the 1988 Visionaries and leave your thoughts and comments either on each figures indivudal information page or in the forum. Enjoy!
As a separate note, I have also adjusted the Price Guide so that it is now up to date. |

| Hasbro 1988 Dealer Catalog (unproduced Visionaries) on eBay now! |
I recently acquired the 1988 Hasbro dealer catalog which contains 8 pages of Visionaries prototype photos from the unproduced 1988 line. It was put up on eBay just over a week ago. I won the auction and now I'm reselling it having got what I needed from the catalog. I don't think I need to explain why this is such a collector's item, particularly for Visionaries fans, but just in case...
The 1988 Hasbro dealer catalog is extremely rare and took ten (10) years to appear on eBay. I have sought this item since this website was launched in late 1997 / early 1998. These catalogs were given out internally at Hasbro and were used to showcase the next years product.
The 1988 catalog includes eight (8) pages of prototypes of the unproduced 1988 "Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light" line. These include all the figures and the vehicles planned for that line, including all six (6) hologram Sun Imps!
Money raised from this sale will support this website. So here is a heads up about the eBay auction which begins today.

| Unproduced Visionaries Art |
New art from the unproduced 1988 line of Visionaries is now available for viewing in the photo gallery. Please leave your thoughts and comments on the characters and vehicles that might have been. More to come soon...
Wayne Thompson, a collector based in Canada, has acquired several pieces of unproduced Visionaries art. The art illustrates characters, vehicles and the playset planned for 1988 that never saw the light of day, likely due to the high costs of producing the holograms and a mini-stock market crash in 1987.
Wayne promises to share more as soon as he can scan and upload them. Thanks Wayne. Enjoy! |
